Marcos Crego, pianist, born and educated in Havana, Cuba, is quickly making a name for himself in the U.S. Latin Scene with the formation of two new bands, The Cuban Tribe, and The Latin Union.
Marcos started his music studies in Havana when he was just five years old, and has been heavily influenced by his Father, the great trumpet player Jose Miguel Crego “El Greco”.  He continued his music studies in Cuba, and, after graduation, Marcos’ career took off as he performed with numerous established bands in Havana, and was a regular in Jazz Festivals worldwide.
When he was 21, he produced his first album named Mi Musica, this being start of his career as a musical producer and collaborator.   In January 2012, Marcos received two Grammy Nominations as he performed on Edwin Bonilla’s album “Homenaje a los Rumberos” under Sonic Projects Records.  Marcos currently resides in Phoenix and is the piano instructor for the New School for the Arts and Academics in Tempe, AZ.

Performing with Marcos is Jiovanni Cofino on bass.  Originally from Havana, Cuba graduated from National School of Arts in 1995. He has played with notable Cuban musicians, such as Chucho Valdes, “Cachao”, Omara Portundo (Buena Vista Social Club) and many more. He became the bass player for one of the most famous orchestras in Cuba, Elio Reve y su Charangon and has recorded and performed internationally. Jiovanni leads, composes, and arranges for his own group, The Latin All Stars, based in Las Vegas and tours regularly.   The All Stars can be seen performing at the Gold Coast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for the hottest Latin event in town.  They created their first CD “Yo Traigo De Todo” featuring all original tunes. Jiovanni is by far, one of the strongest and most magnetic bassists in Cuban music.

Marcos and Jiovanni have teamed up to bring the newest and hottest Latin genres of these times  with this exciting new 7 piece band including piano, bass, trumpet, reeds, and three percussionists.  Don’t miss the opportunity to hear this unique and exciting Cuban group when they hit your town.
